How this website handles your data

This policy covers the public landing page at multieditor.net only. The multi application at app.multieditor.net processes documents and account data and has its own separate privacy policy. Before publishing: confirm the hosting details in section 3 and replace any [PLACEHOLDER].

1. Overview

We take the protection of your personal data seriously. This website is intentionally minimal: it sets no cookies, uses no analytics or tracking, embeds no third-party content, and loads its fonts from our own server. The only personal data processed is what your browser necessarily transmits to our server to deliver the page, plus any email you choose to send us.

2. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

[PLACEHOLDER: Name / company]
[PLACEHOLDER: Street and house number]
[PLACEHOLDER: Postal code and city, country]
Email: contact@multieditor.net

A data protection officer is [PLACEHOLDER: “not required for this website” / name and contact if appointed].

3. Server log files & hosting

When you visit this website, our web server automatically records information that your browser transmits. This may include:

  • your IP address (shortened/anonymised where feasible),
  • the date and time of the request,
  • the page or file requested and the amount of data transferred,
  • the HTTP status code,
  • the referring URL, and
  • your browser type, version, and operating system (user agent).

This data is required to deliver the website, to guarantee its stability and security, and to defend against attacks. The legal basis is our legitimate interest under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR in the secure and reliable operation of the site. Log data is stored only as long as necessary for these purposes and is then deleted or anonymised, typically within [PLACEHOLDER: e.g. 7–14] days.

The website is hosted on a server operated on our behalf by [PLACEHOLDER: hosting provider name and location, e.g. “Hetzner Online GmbH, Germany”]. Where a hosting provider processes personal data on our behalf, a data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR is in place.

4. TLS/SSL encryption

This site uses transport encryption (HTTPS) for security reasons and to protect the transmission of any content you send us. You can recognise an encrypted connection by the “https://” prefix and the lock symbol in your browser's address bar.

5. Cookies and local storage

This website does not set any cookies and does not use browser local storage for tracking. No consent banner is therefore required.

6. Fonts

The “Inter” typeface is hosted locally on our own server and served together with the page. No connection to Google Fonts or any other third-party font service is established, and no data about you is transmitted to such providers.

7. Contacting us by email

If you contact us via the email address provided (contact@multieditor.net), the details you send, including your email address and the content of your message, will be stored by us in order to process your enquiry and in case of follow-up questions. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries) and, where your enquiry concerns a contract, Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR. We delete this data once it is no longer required and no statutory retention periods prevent deletion.

8. External links

This website links to external services, including the multi application (app.multieditor.net), the ACM Digital Library, and arXiv. When you follow such a link, the respective provider's privacy policy applies. We have no control over the data processing of these third parties.

9. Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • the right of access (Art. 15 GDPR);
  • the right to rectification (Art. 16 GDPR);
  • the right to erasure (Art. 17 GDPR);
  • the right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR);
  • the right to data portability (Art. 20 GDPR); and
  • the right to object to processing (Art. 21 GDPR).

Where processing is based on our legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR), you have the right to object at any time on grounds relating to your particular situation. To exercise any of these rights, contact us at contact@multieditor.net.

10. Right to lodge a complaint

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority, in particular in the EU member state of your habitual residence, place of work, or the place of the alleged infringement, if you consider that the processing of your personal data infringes the GDPR.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this privacy policy to reflect changes to our practices or for legal reasons. The current version is always available on this page, with the “last updated” date above.
